Turner Shular family

Turner Shular (Shuler) came from Swain Co., NC, to Sevier Co. and settled on Walden's Creek. He owned a sawmill* and grain mill on Cove Creek near the confluence of Walden's Creek & Cove Creek. He eventually owned three mountain farms. He left Sevier County in the early teens (1916-18) and moved to Knoxville, buying most of the area where West Haven is located. He built a home (probably brought lumber from his mill) It is still standing (in 2001) on the corner of Western Ave. and Pleasant Ridge Rd. He still has relatives living in the area. He and his family are buried in New Gray Cemetery in Knoxville. *His mill sawed lumber for the Walden's Creek U.M.E. Church.
