Homecoming at the home of Mr. James Wilson Wayland on Sunday, August 21, 1927

A homecoming was held at the home of Mr. James Wilson Wayland on Sunday, August 21, 1927. All children were present, except for Martha Ann Wayland Fox, who lived in Texas. After dinner, many photographs were taken by C. A. Wayland of Knoxville. Many other families were also in attendance. These included C. (Columbus) A. Wayland, brother; Clyde S. Wayland, nephew; Ernest Wayland, nephew; Lester Wayland, nephew; Ruth Wayland, niece; A. W. Butler, brother-in-law; H. C. Butler, brother-in-law; Tilman Robertson; Mrs. G. M. Stuart, sister-in-law; L. D. Robertson; and Mrs. S. M. Hammer. Many other children, including my mother (Mary Irene Wayland Worth), aunts and uncle, were also present. The above account was paraphrased from a newspaper article dated August 22, 1927. One of the photographs is probably the one identified as OldWaylandFamilyca1930 (my previous estimate). There were 42 people in the photo. The lady confined to the "wheeled chair" as mentioned in the article must have been Sarah Ann Butler Wayland, who would have been 78 years, 9 months old. The relationship to the Robertsons is unknown at this time. My grandmother, Virginia Pearl Andes Wayland, is the fourth from the right in the top row with my grandfather, James Orlando Wayland to the left (her right). Sarah Ann Butler Wayland, my great-grandmother, died on January 26, 1928.
